The people least equipped to tell a real signal from a synthetic one are the very young and the very old, and they are precisely the users the automated internet reaches first. Mister Cloud is a concept for giving them digital foundations: safety curriculum and infrastructure literacy for the newest internet users, delivered in a zero-data, low-stakes way.
The framing I keep returning to is nutrition. There is passive feasting (endless, frictionless consumption that asks nothing of you) and there is active engagement, where a child builds, questions, and compiles rather than just watches. Mister Cloud aims to be the fiber and minerals, not the third helping of dessert.
- Teach that everyone’s screen shows something a little different, so "wrong" is worth reporting, not accepting.
- Favor active building (compile a small data object) over passive watching.
- Match screen size and screen time to age, deliberately, rather than by default.
This is early and unabashedly a concept. But the thesis is serious: verification literacy has to start upstream of the professionals. If our most vulnerable users learn to question the screen at all, the whole system gets a little harder to fool.
